Employee Peaks Fund
This funding initiative provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in Huntsville, Alabama, that enhance community quality of life through projects in various focus areas such as arts, education, health, and economic opportunity.
The Employee Peaks Fund (EPF) Summer Grant, operated by IronMountain Solutions (IMS), is a community-focused funding initiative designed to support nonprofit organizations addressing key quality-of-life issues in Huntsville, Alabama, and its surrounding communities. Established in 2018 by IMS employees, the EPF embodies the company’s ethos of “making something better” by channeling employee contributions into strategic community investments. The fund is administered in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville and has awarded grants to over 112 nonprofit recipients, totaling more than $784,000 to date. The EPF supports a wide spectrum of focus areas that contribute to overall community well-being. These include Arts & Culture, Basic Needs, Economic Opportunity, Education, Environment, Health & Wellness, Neighborhoods & Community, and Recreation. Applications must clearly align with at least one of these eight “Quality of Life Priorities.” IMS prioritizes programs that enrich community life, provide basic human needs, equip individuals with economic opportunities, and promote holistic neighborhood development. Projects that address physical and mental health, protect natural resources, and engage community members through arts or recreation are especially encouraged. To be eligible, applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations offering community-based services in Huntsville or surrounding areas where IMS and its subsidiaries operate. All services provided by the organization must be inclusive and open to the community, regardless of race, religion, politics, payment ability, or background. Religious organizations may apply, provided their services are broadly accessible and non-discriminatory. Organizations that have received EPF grants in the two most recent cycles are ineligible, and several restrictions apply, including ineligibility for conference expenses, debt reduction, endowment campaigns, individual grants, and political or private foundation activities. The 2026 Summer Grant cycle is currently accepting applications. All materials must be submitted electronically by 4:00 PM CDT on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The application requires both narrative and financial components. Required financial documents include a balance sheet and income statement from the most recent fiscal year, a detailed grant request budget, and the latest IRS Form 990. Additionally, applicants must provide marketing materials, such as a high-resolution logo. Organizations that meet eligibility and documentation requirements may be contacted for further discussion by an EPF representative. Applications are valid only for the current grant cycle and must be resubmitted for future consideration. Grant awards are determined through a unique process where IMS employee contributors vote on applications, and final decisions are made by the EPF Board of Directors. Award amounts have historically ranged from $2,000 to $7,500, though exact amounts may vary depending on available funding. Applicants acknowledge that awards may not match their full funding request. Award recipients will be notified in June 2026 and are expected to attend the Summer Grant Reception, where they will receive the award and speak about their organization. Recipients also agree to publicity via IMS and EPF communication channels. This program does not require cost sharing or matching funds. However, grantees may be asked to submit a post-award funding report outlining measurable outcomes of their funded project. There is no recurring automatic consideration for future EPF grants, though the grant cycle operates on a predictable seasonal basis, with recurring summer and winter calls for proposals. Organizations interested in the fund are encouraged to review eligibility requirements thoroughly and prepare complete application packages well ahead of the deadline. Any questions may be directed to the EPF Board at [email protected].
