The Idaho Commission on the Arts offers annual Fellowships for Artists and Writers to recognize outstanding work by Idaho artists and writers. These fellowships support artistic excellence, increase public awareness of the arts, and assist recipients in advancing their careers. Awards range from $1,000 to $10,000.
There are two categories available: Performing and Media Arts, which includes disciplines such as film, dance, theater, music, technologically-based media, and other performative or time-based arts; and Literature, which covers fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, screenwriting, playwriting, and other literary forms.
To be eligible for a fellowship, applicants must be practicing artists or writers who are at least 18 years old. They must be U.S. citizens, legal residents, or refugees who have lived in Idaho for at least one year before the application deadline. Applicants currently enrolled in degree or certificate programs are not eligible.
Applicants must have submitted and received approval for final reports on any previous grants from the Commission. Fellowship recipients may receive up to three awards but must wait four years before reapplying. Artists can apply in only one category per year.
The fellowship provides financial support that can help recipients focus on their creative work without financial strain while gaining recognition within Idahoβs arts community. This opportunity is designed to foster artistic growth and career development.
