Grant Description

The Kids Run the Nation Grant Fund is administered by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting running as a healthy lifestyle across the United States. Established in 2007, this grant program aims to empower youth through inclusive running programs that welcome children of all genders and abilities. To date, the fund has awarded over $385,000 to more than 495 youth running programs, helping nearly 200,000 children become active and fostering lifelong healthy habits. The grant supports nonprofit running clubs, schools, and community organizations launching or maintaining structured youth running programs. Programs must meet specific requirements such as holding regular sessions more than once a week over multiple weeks, providing inclusive participation, and aligning with SafeSport Act mandates. These include ensuring all adult staff complete sexual abuse awareness and reporting training and ideally undergo criminal background checks. Funding amounts range from $500 to $1,000 per grant, with acceptable uses including educational and promotional materials, hydration and nutrition supplies, running apparel and accessories, and equipment for training. However, funds cannot be used for salaries, competitive race fees, travel costs, or high-sugar beverages. Applications are evaluated based on alignment with program objectives, inclusion practices, adherence to safety protocols, and overall program design. To be eligible, applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, schools, or school-affiliated organizations such as PTAs. Individual applicants and competitive track teams governed by state athletic federations are ineligible. The application process includes detailed questions about program structure, demographics served, financial planning, staffing, and safety protocols. Programs must also demonstrate how they will sustain funding beyond the grant period. The 2025 grant application closes at 11:59 PM EDT on August 1, 2025. Selected applicants will be notified on or about September 1, 2025. Applications must be submitted via the RRCA website and must include a program narrative, budget details, information on educational components, demographic data, and safety compliance. For questions, applicants can contact the RRCA National Office at 100 W. Jefferson St. Suite 202, Falls Church, VA 22046. Phone and email contacts are not explicitly listed in the grant page content, and should be retrieved directly from the organization’s contact directory on their website.
