Grant Description

The Brookline Community Foundation (BCF) invites applications for its Youth Development Grant Program, funded by the Brookline Youth Fund. Established in 1999 by The Country Club, this fund supports Brookline’s youth by enhancing equal access to opportunities, especially for underserved or low-income families. BCF aims to fund programs in areas like middle school support, leadership development, arts, health, education, basic needs, and mental health. With $154,200 available for 2025, BCF offers grants up to $25,000. The program prioritizes organizations advancing equity, led by BIPOC, or focused on supporting BIPOC and other marginalized populations. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, Town agencies, and community groups. Organizations without tax-exempt status can apply through a fiscal sponsor, with assistance from BCF as needed. New this year, BCF requires that at least 50% of the requested funding amount be met for project feasibility and encourages collaborative applications to maximize community impact. Proposals must not support political campaigns, travel, or direct aid to individuals, although grants can fund organizations that provide scholarships or other support. The application period opens November 1, 2024, and closes December 6, 2024. Grant decisions will be announced in early March 2025 after a review period in which site visits may be scheduled. Applicants can reach out for support at grants@brooklinecommunity.org or 617-566-4442, and are encouraged to review BCF’s "Understanding Brookline" reports for insights into community needs.
