Grant Description

The Pfizer Independent Medical Education (IME) Grant Program is accepting proposals for its 2025 competitive funding cycle focused on USP <797> Pharmaceutical Compounding–Sterile Preparations. This grant opportunity seeks to support the education of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and medication safety officers on the challenges and opportunities surrounding the implementation of USP <797>, which became official on November 1, 2023. The grant aligns with Pfizer's mission to improve patient safety and reduce risks related to sterile compounding, such as contamination, infection, or incorrect dosing. Eligible applicants include accredited educational institutions, healthcare organizations, professional associations, and other entities with missions tied to healthcare education and improvement. Individuals and unaffiliated medical practices are not eligible to apply. All proposed projects must take place in the United States and directly address educational needs tied to USP <797> compliance in hospital and alternate-site pharmacy environments. Projects may focus on topics such as reintegrating sterile compounding within institutions, special considerations for pediatric sterile compounding (e.g., compatibility and stability), and challenges with establishing Beyond Use Dates (BUDs). The target audience must include pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, with optional inclusion of medication safety officers. The total available funding for this cycle is up to $200,000 USD. Only one project is expected to be awarded, and the maximum duration is 18 months. Overhead costs may be included up to 28% of the project’s total budget. Applications must be submitted via Pfizer’s CyberGrants portal and include a full proposal addressing goals, needs assessment, innovation, evaluation methods, dissemination, and a detailed budget. All proposals must be submitted in English, single-spaced, using 12-point Calibri font and 1-inch margins. The proposal must not exceed 15 pages, excluding references. The RFP was released on September 16, 2025. The submission deadline is October 14, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST. Grant recipients will be notified in November 2025, and the project is expected to start in January 2026, running no later than March 2027. Questions about the RFP may be directed to Talita Honorato-Rzeszewicz at talita.honorato-rzeszewicz@pfizer.com, with the subject line “2025 I&I US USP 797 Sterile Preparations KG.”
