Tanglewood Baptist Legacy Fund Grant
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations, government entities, churches, and school districts in Ripley County, Indiana, for community development projects that promote health, welfare, and environmental stewardship.
The Tanglewood Baptist Legacy Fund was established to honor and sustain the long-standing mission and impact of the Tanglewood Baptist Church. Through grant-making, the fund aims to perpetuate the church’s values and extend its legacy by supporting local projects that enhance community well-being. The fund prioritizes efforts that contribute to the betterment of Ripley County, Indiana, where it provides targeted assistance to qualifying organizations operating within this geographic region. The grant supports initiatives that align with the fund’s commitment to community development, with priority given to projects that promote health, welfare, and environmental stewardship. The three categories of assistance covered under the program include Community Improvements and Services, Education and Youth (excluding scholarships or training-based funding), and Environmental initiatives. All proposed activities must clearly serve the community and uphold non-discriminatory values. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organizations, government entities, churches, and school districts, provided they hold valid tax-exempt status from the IRS. In addition to meeting eligibility requirements, applicant organizations must also contribute meaningfully to the community's health or welfare. Applications are reviewed with a preference for projects that demonstrate financial collaboration—particularly those that involve matching funds or additional sources of support. Grant applications must be submitted by March 31 annually. While the program does not require pre-applications such as letters of intent, applicants are expected to submit a complete application package, including organizational details, project descriptions, financial statements, and budget documentation. Finalists are interviewed in person before funding decisions are finalized, and recipients must submit a project report by December 31 of the award year. Failure to do so may disqualify them from future opportunities. Applicants are required to upload several key documents: a copy of the organization’s most recent financial statement, the IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter, a detailed budget for the proposed project, and any relevant vendor quotes. Additional optional materials, such as letters of support or project photos, may also be submitted to strengthen the application. Awards are announced prior to June 1, giving applicants sufficient time to initiate their approved projects. The grant program is recurring, with the application cycle reopening annually. Based on the current reference date, the next anticipated cycle will open in March 2027, with a check-in date for updated information scheduled for March 1, 2027. This structure supports continuous investment in community-strengthening initiatives across Ripley County.
