Operation Round Up Grants
This program provides funding to support community development projects initiated by local organizations and individuals within a 24-county service area, focusing on enhancing quality of life through various charitable efforts.
The Operation Round Up Grants program is administered by the South Central Power Company Foundation, a philanthropic extension of the South Central Power Company. This program supports charitable efforts and community development within a 24-county service region through quarterly grant cycles. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life in local communities by funding projects initiated by eligible groups and individuals. Grants are awarded in four cycles annually, with application deadlines on March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31. The Foundation’s Board of Directors meets in January, April, July, and October to review submissions and allocate funding. Applications must be submitted at least 30 days in advance of the planned event or project date to be considered. The grant program supports a variety of community needs including, but not limited to, schools, civic organizations, food pantries, fire departments, and youth-focused initiatives. Funding tiers are clearly defined: up to $10,000 for groups and charities; $5,000 for band instruments; $4,000 for food or personal care items and fire department turnout gear; $3,000 to $5,000 for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library; $2,000 for families; and $1,000 for individuals. Grant funds cannot be used for religious activities, political causes, utility bills, operating expenses, or salaries. Applicants must submit an online form that includes a detailed, itemized project budget, recent financial or profit/loss statements, and a signed declaration. Additionally, the application must disclose other income sources for the proposed project. The Foundation does not act as a sole funder, and applications lacking co-funding will not be considered. Prior rejected applications for the same project will not be reviewed more than twice in a calendar year. Awardees are limited to one grant per year and must submit a final report within 12 months detailing the use of funds. Applications are restricted to the official form and no more than three additional pages. Projects that coincide too closely with board meeting dates may be deferred to a future cycle. Questions during the application process can be directed to South Central Power Company’s Community Development office via email or phone.
