City and County of Denver Community Support Mini Grants Program
This funding initiative provides financial support to nonprofit organizations, community groups, and microbusinesses in designated neighborhoods of Denver to foster community building, economic mobility, and local engagement through various projects and events.
The City and County of Denver Community Support Mini Grants program is a funding initiative operated through a partnership between Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO) and The Denver Foundation. This program is designed to support projects that create stronger, more connected neighborhoods in the City and County of Denver. The mini grants are funded through DEDO’s Division of Neighborhood Equity and Stabilization (NEST), with a specific focus on community-led work in priority neighborhoods. These mini grants are intended to promote community building and organizing, increase economic mobility, and expand the capacity of local groups to serve their communities effectively. The eligible neighborhoods for this program include Athmar Park, Barnum, Barnum West, Clayton, College View, East Colfax, Elyria Swansea, Globeville, Kennedy, Lincoln Park, Mar Lee, Montbello, Ruby Hill, Sun Valley, Valverde, Villa Park, Westwood, and Windsor. Groups outside of these areas may apply only if they are partnering with a group from one of the eligible neighborhoods. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or community groups with a fiscal sponsor. Microbusinesses may also apply, provided they have a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor and operate within a priority community with an annual revenue not exceeding $500,000. All applicants must ensure their proposed projects can be fully implemented and completed by Friday, November 28, 2025. Extensions will not be granted, and retroactive funding is not permitted. Eligible activities include community-building events such as block parties, fairs, and walks, as well as projects focused on community engagement, advocacy, and outreach. Grants can also be used to support initiatives that improve economic mobility by increasing access to services and education, and to strengthen group infrastructure through leadership development, strategic planning, and marketing. However, funds cannot be used for standalone equipment purchases or for activities already completed. The grant program offers funding ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. All funds must be used for activities aligned with the program’s goals. Applicants must submit their applications online through The Denver Foundation’s portal. The application window opened on August 25, 2025, and will close on September 8, 2025. Applicants with questions about the program are encouraged to contact the grant administrators at minigrants@denverfoundation.org for further assistance.
