Louise Oriole Burevitch Endowment Grants Program
This program provides funding to nonprofit organizations in eastern North Carolina for projects that support education, health, and human services, with a focus on benefiting women, children, youth, and older adults.
The Louise Oriole Burevitch Endowment, managed by the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF), will accept grant proposals from nonprofit organizations serving eastern North Carolina between June 20, 2025, and noon on July 22, 2025. NCCF is a statewide nonprofit foundation supporting philanthropic efforts across North Carolina, and the Burevitch Endowment is one of its major funds focused on strengthening communities in the eastern region through grants in education, health, and human services. This funding opportunity prioritizes initiatives that directly address school success, health outcomes, and basic human needs. In education, programs that support students, teachers, and school personnel from pre-K to university level are considered, including after-school and leadership development programs for youth. Health programs must focus directly on improving mental, physical, or general wellness. Human services encompass essential needs such as food, shelter, safety, and clothing, with particular emphasis on job training, employment services, and domestic violence support. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or operate as such via a fiscal sponsor, with services benefitting one or more of 41 designated eastern North Carolina counties. Organizations must focus clearly on at least one of the fund’s priority areas. Grants are not available to governmental entities, religious institutions, private educational institutions, or for capital campaigns, political purposes, loans, or endowments. NCCF maintains a non-discrimination policy in its funding decisions and encourages proposals that support women, children/youth, and older adults, especially in southeastern counties. The grant range is typically between $25,000 and $50,000, with a maximum cap of $50,000. Grants are awarded for a 24-month term beginning in October or early November. Organizations may apply once per cycle and cannot receive another grant from this program within three years of the initial award. The proposal process is competitive, with clarity and specificity of focus being crucial evaluation factors. Applications must be submitted through NCCF’s online system, which requires the access code "MrsB" to unlock the specific grant program application. First-time applicants must create an account, while returning applicants can log in with existing credentials. The online system allows applicants to preview the application before submission. All grants awarded must be completed within the two-year grant term, and final reports submitted before new applications can be considered. Questions regarding the application process can be directed to Doug Perry, Grants Manager at NCCF, via email or phone. NCCF advises applicants to review the full application and guidance documents thoroughly before submission and does not offer pre-approval or proposal vetting.
