City of Mukilteo Community Support Grants
This funding initiative provides financial support to various organizations and groups that enhance community well-being in Mukilteo through public events and activities focused on arts, education, youth development, and economic growth.
The City of Mukilteoโs Community Support Grants for 2026 are part of a local funding initiative aimed at improving the quality of life for Mukilteo residents through support for public events and community-oriented activities. The total funding pool for the 2026 cycle is $30,000, a reduction of $20,000 from the previous year. These grants are awarded to organizations that promote community well-being through projects in areas such as arts and culture, youth development, education, economic development, and public engagement. The City of Mukilteo Executive Department oversees the program following project approvals by the Mukilteo City Council. The Community Support Grants are open to a broad array of applicants, including registered nonprofit organizations, volunteer groups, neighborhood associations, educational institutions, public agencies, private companies, and the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce. Although the program primarily supports organizations based within Mukilteo, those outside the city limits may also apply if they can clearly demonstrate that their proposed activities provide tangible benefits to the Mukilteo community. Projects must be completed by December 31, 2026. Applications are evaluated in two stages. First, city staff reviews each submission for completeness and eligibility. Eligible applicants are then invited to present their proposals to the Community Support Grants Committee. This committee scores each project on a 20-point scale based on four weighted criteria: project budget, community benefit, outreach, and project scope. The committee forwards funding recommendations to the City Council, which makes the final decision. Funding is disbursed on a reimbursement basis only after a signed Funding Agreement is executed. No funds can be advanced for project expenses incurred before formal approval. A completed application must include details such as the project or event title, organization information, funding request amount, project summary, scope of work, timeline, collaborating partners, revenue sources (including in-kind and cash support), detailed budget, and any additional pending grant applications. Supporting documentation such as a W-9, proof of insurance, IRS determination letter (for nonprofits), and Washington state incorporation certification must also be submitted. All applicants are required to appear before the Community Support Grants Committee as part of the evaluation process. Projects are judged not only by feasibility and alignment with community benefits but also by whether the applicant can complete the work within the calendar year. If an organization received funding in the previous year, all final reports must be submitted to be considered eligible for current-year funding. The grant program places a strong emphasis on accountability, requiring final project summary and budget reports within 30 days of project completion. City staff monitor progress throughout the year and serve as the main contact for grantees. The deadline to apply for the 2026 cycle is Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 11:59 PM. City staff are available to assist applicants throughout the process, and individuals needing accessibility support may email the Executive Department at execadmin@mukilteowa.gov or call 425-263-8018. Completed applications and supporting documentation must be submitted electronically through the official city portal. Notifications of funding will follow City Council approval and execution of final agreements, after which grantees may begin incurring reimbursable expenses.
