Grant Description

The California Energy Commission (CEC) has announced the Clean Transportation Program’s Reliable, Equitable, and Accessible Charging for Multi-family Housing (REACH) 3.0 grant solicitation, designated as GFO-24-604. This competitive funding opportunity provides up to $19 million to expand electric vehicle (EV) charging access for residents of multi-family housing (MFH) properties, particularly those in disadvantaged or low-income communities. The objective of REACH 3.0 is to demonstrate scalable, replicable models for EV charging installations that enhance EV adoption and provide accessible, reliable charging solutions for MFH residents. Projects are encouraged to target affordable housing units and address specific challenges in MFH charging infrastructure, such as shared or limited parking. Eligible projects must implement at-home or near-home charging solutions accessible to MFH residents and must involve installations within or near disadvantaged and low-income communities. Each funded project must serve a minimum of 120 charging ports across properties supporting at least 360 MFH units. Projects should include outreach efforts to inform MFH residents of EV charging benefits and provide consumer information on EV ownership. Applications open on October 15, 2024, with the deadline for submissions set for January 22, 2025. A mandatory pre-application workshop will be held on October 31, 2024, via Zoom. Applications must be submitted through the CEC’s Energy Commission Agreement Management System (ECAMS), which offers detailed guidance and technical support for applicants.
