Grant Description

The Water-Right Charitable Fund, administered through the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, supports nonprofit organizations located in or serving the communities of Appleton, Green Bay, Menasha, Neenah, and Oshkosh. The fund is advised by a committee composed of staff from Water-Right and Clean Water Center, who review proposals and recommend grants based on established guidelines and priorities. This fund reflects the charitable interests of the company’s employees and places emphasis on projects aligned with their values. The fund prioritizes projects and causes that address basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter, followed by environmental initiatives and educational efforts. These categories are ranked by importance and form the core criteria used during the selection process. To qualify, applicants must be recognized as 501(c)(3) public charities. Organizations must be willing to provide financial documents upon request to validate their eligibility. Grants of up to $3,000 may be awarded. The fund explicitly excludes support for individual schools and religious institutions, unless those organizations have separate entities or affiliated programs that serve the broader public. Other exclusions include event or sports sponsorships, general operational costs, political, religious, or controversial organizations, reserve funds, and conferences. Applications are accepted three times annually with deadlines on March 1, June 1, and October 15, all due by 11:59 p.m. Applications must be submitted through the Community Foundation's Grant Portal. First-time applicants are advised to visit the portal’s landing page for registration guidance and tutorials before beginning the application process. All applicants are encouraged to carefully review the Foundation’s general grant policies to ensure their program aligns with broader eligibility requirements, including its nondiscrimination and faith-based funding policies. For additional assistance or inquiries, prospective applicants may contact Kelly Hicks, Donor Services Manager, via email at khicks@cffoxvalley.org or by phone at 920.702.7655. The Foundation's office is located at 4455 W. Lawrence St, Appleton, WI 54914, and maintains weekday business hours.
