Grant Description

The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Energy, has opened its Fall 2025 grant cycle to nonprofit organizations operating within its service areas. Dominion Energy is a major energy provider that serves 3.6 million electric customers across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina and provides natural gas to over 500,000 customers in South Carolina. It is also a national leader in renewable energy development and carbon-free electricity production, particularly in New England. Through the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation and additional initiatives like EnergyShare, the company contributed $46.3 million to community causes in 2024. The Foundation’s grants are targeted to support four key areas: human needs, environmental stewardship, education, and community vitality. Grants may be awarded to support specific programs or projects that align with one or more of these core focus areas. The Foundation encourages nonprofits that address basic human needs, enhance environmental outcomes, deliver educational initiatives, or strengthen community systems to apply. All grants are structured to promote positive and sustainable impact in communities where Dominion Energy operates or maintains a significant business presence. Geographically, eligibility is limited to organizations within the Dominion Energy footprint. This includes the states of Virginia, South Carolina, northeastern North Carolina, and portions of West Virginia, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Only nonprofit organizations serving populations within these service areas will be considered. The opportunity is not available on a nationwide basis. The Foundation accepts grant applications twice per year, in the spring and fall. The Fall 2025 application window is currently open and will close on September 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Funding decisions will be announced in November. The Foundation will also offer virtual office hours during August and September to assist nonprofit applicants with questions regarding the application process. Application materials and further guidance can be accessed at DominionEnergy.com/foundation. Evaluation of proposals will be based on how well the proposed project aligns with the Foundation’s funding priorities, the project’s anticipated impact, and the capacity of the applicant organization to execute and sustain the work. There are no stated minimum or maximum award amounts, and the Foundation has not published the number of anticipated awards or total funds available for this cycle. Nonprofit applicants seeking assistance or additional information are encouraged to reach out to the Foundation’s designated media contact, Cherise Newsome, who can be reached at [email protected] or by phone at (757) 840-0100. The Foundation urges interested organizations to apply before the deadline and to make use of the virtual support opportunities during the open period.
