Simple Gifts Fund

The Simple Gifts Fund, administered by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, supports young individuals aged 13 to 19 who are residents of the Berkshire Taconic region and seek financial assistance to participate in summer enrichment programs in the arts. This fund was established in 1998 and is inspired by Bill Crofut, a folk singer passionate about supporting young artists in their creative journeys. The fund provides small grants to help young people pursue artistic training and development opportunities. It can cover the cost of tuition, travel, living expenses, or art supplies for an approved enrichment program. However, requests for equipment or sports programs are not eligible. The fund prioritizes programs taking place within the Berkshire Taconic region and New England, and does not support programs in foreign countries. Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest and ambition in the arts, and their chosen program must provide a meaningful opportunity for artistic exploration. A committee reviews applications based on the quality of the enrichment program, the applicant’s dedication, and the potential impact on their personal and professional development. Recipients are required to submit a grant report about their experiences after completing the program. Grants typically range from $200 to $800, and awarded funds are paid directly to the organization or vendor. The application deadline is March 15, 2025.
