America250 Grant Program
This funding opportunity provides up to $5,000 for Indiana-based organizations to create arts projects that celebrate American history and engage local audiences in meaningful ways.
The America250 Grant Program, administered by the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC), is a one-time funding initiative designed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This program invites applications for arts-based projects across all disciplines that aim to celebrate American history and foster meaningful connections between participants and that history. This opportunity is made possible through support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Indiana General Assembly. The initiative aligns with IAC's broader mission to enrich the lives of Indiana residents by supporting diverse and vibrant arts initiatives throughout the state. Applicants may request funding up to $5,000, and no matching funds are required, allowing greater accessibility for a broad range of entities. All awardees will receive the full amount requested, contingent on being in good standing and submitting the necessary documentation in a timely manner. Funds may be used for eligible project expenses such as artist fees, program supplies, and facility rentals. However, costs related to food and beverages, prizes or gift cards, and fundraising activities are not permitted. The grant period spans from March 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. Eligibility extends to a wide range of organizations, including 501(c)(3) nonprofits (both arts and non-arts focused), local units of government, public libraries, educational institutions (from pre-K through university level), provided they are physically located and incorporated in Indiana. Projects must primarily serve Indiana audiences. Applicants must also obtain a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) from SAM.gov and be in good standing with the IAC, the State of Indiana, their Regional Arts Partner, and the NEA. Fiscally sponsored applicants are not eligible. The application window opens on November 13, 2025, and closes on December 15, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET. An informational webinar will be held on November 20, 2025, to assist prospective applicants. Notification of funding decisions will be issued by February 16, 2026, and final grant reports are due by January 15, 2027. Only online submissions are accepted unless accessibility accommodations are requested. Applications are evaluated by an internal review committee based on three criteria: artistic quality, relevance and depth of connection to American history, and the feasibility of the project’s management plan. Approximately 12 grants will be awarded, making this a competitive opportunity. Successful applicants are required to track participant engagement and submit a final report that includes both narrative and financial documentation. Questions regarding eligibility, guidelines, and application procedures should be directed to the IAC Grants and Operations Team via grantsadmin@iac.in.gov. Accessibility-related inquiries can be sent to accessibility@iac.in.gov. Additional guidance and application access are available through the IAC's online grant portal.
