The City of Vallejo has launched the third round of its Small Business Hardening Grant, funded through an allocation from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The City Council designated $125,000 specifically to assist local small businesses in improving security infrastructure to mitigate negative impacts experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative is administered by Vallejoβs Economic Development Department under the Planning & Development Services Division.
The Hardening Grant provides reimbursement funding up to $3,000 for eligible security improvement purchases. These improvements may include cameras, locks, window enhancements, and doors, among other security-focused items. All reimbursed purchases must have been made between January 1, 2023, and May 21, 2025.
Eligibility is limited to both for-profit and non-profit brick-and-mortar businesses that are physically located in Vallejo, California. Applicants must have a valid Vallejo business license and employ no more than 20 individuals. The grant program is designed to support small, local operations in bolstering their premises against future risks.
