Grant Description

The PFCU Foundation for Our Communities is a charitable initiative affiliated with PFCU Credit Union. Its core mission is to support the betterment of the communities served by the credit union. The Foundation issues grants to support nonprofit organizations, registered charities, and community groups whose work aligns with PFCU's service areas. The program prioritizes projects that demonstrate meaningful community benefits, measurable outcomes, and sustainability beyond the grant period. In addition to traditional grantmaking, the Foundation also offers scholarship opportunities to graduating high school seniors, including the McCrumb and Skilled Scholarships. The Foundation opens its primary grant cycle annually in early spring. For 2026, applications will be accepted from March 1 to April 30. Eligible applicants must submit a completed online application form, though a paper alternative can be requested by contacting the Foundation directly. Applications must include the organization's contact information, project title, requested funding amount, and all required documentation. Individual applicants may apply in certain cases but must include a Letter of Support and clearly demonstrate how their project serves the community. However, current PFCU employees, Board of Directors, and Audit Committee Members are ineligible to apply. Grant applications are evaluated based on several criteria including alignment with the Foundation’s mission, the clarity and feasibility of the proposed project, and the capacity of the applicant to execute the initiative. Applications are reviewed by a designated committee assembled by the Foundation's Board. Notifications of grant decisions are sent out according to the dates posted in the grant cycle schedule. The Foundation does not provide ongoing status updates once an application has been submitted. A Statement of Intent is a required component of the application. This narrative should describe the project’s purpose, expected outcomes, community impact, and requested grant amount. It should also outline any other funding sources secured for the project and identify which of the Foundation’s pillars the initiative supports. Additional documentation that can help demonstrate the project's value to the community is encouraged. Projects that request general operational support are considered only on an exceptional basis, with preference given to specific, actionable initiatives. Funding from the PFCU Foundation is restricted to projects located in or directly serving the geographic footprint of PFCU Credit Union. The Foundation generally does not fund for-profit entities, religious programs, politically affiliated efforts, student trips, or projects that may result in personal benefit to Foundation or PFCU personnel. Furthermore, operating or maintenance expenses are typically not covered by grant funds. Grants are reserved for activities that reflect a strong commitment to community development and integrity. Applicants will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission. All information about subsequent steps and timeline updates is available on the Foundation’s website. The PFCU Foundation continues to be a trusted philanthropic resource, supporting community-focused efforts through responsible grantmaking within its field of membership.
