Grant Description

The City of Phoenix Project Support Program (PSP) is an arts and culture grant program that funds a variety of artistic and cultural projects that engage Phoenix residents. The program supports projects such as arts workshops, performances, and exhibitions, with a maximum grant award of $5,000 per project. The deadline to apply has been extended to March 23, 2025, at 11:59 PM. The program is administered by the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture (POAC) and is designed to encourage diversity and inclusivity in the arts. It funds guest artist fees, production costs, marketing expenses, venue rental, arts materials, insurance, and fiscal sponsorship fees, among other eligible expenses. Projects must take place within City of Phoenix boundaries and must primarily serve Phoenix residents. The program aims to support artistic collaborations, celebrate the work of individual artists, and introduce youth to arts and culture. Eligible applicants must be based in Phoenix or Maricopa County (if producing an in-person cultural festival in Phoenix). They must be one of the following: 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations (arts/culture or community-based) Public K-12 schools Youth collectives (must apply under an umbrella organization or school) Arts collectives (must have a fiscal sponsor) Arts and Culture LLCs (with a prior year income below $250,000; may be taxed as income if not using a fiscal sponsor) Applicants must have a fiscal sponsor if they do not have 501(c)(3) status. Fiscal sponsors must provide a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the time of application, and administrative fees (7-12%) must be included in the project budget. Approved fiscal sponsors include TAPAZ and Fractured Atlas. Projects that are only virtual, primarily religious, involve re-granting, capital investments, or construction, and projects that receive direct funding from other POAC grants within the same fiscal year are not eligible. Additionally, individuals, single-member LLCs, fundraising projects, and government divisions are ineligible to apply. The review process consists of an initial eligibility check, followed by an evaluation by arts and cultural professionals. Applications that include working with vulnerable populations will undergo an additional review step by experts such as teachers and social workers. Applications will be scored based on project overview (10 points), community significance (30 points), artistic/cultural value (30 points), and logistics/feasibility (30 points). After funding approval, grantees must: Register as a City of Phoenix vendor Attend a "You’ve Been Funded! What’s Next" webinar Complete their project between July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026 Use POAC branding on project materials Submit a final report within 45 days of project completion, including an expense report and receipts Funding is reimbursed upon completion of these steps. Final reports from previous grants must be submitted before new funding is released. For questions, applicants may schedule a virtual meeting with Anel E. Arriola, Grants and Systems Manager, at 602-534-5084 or anel.arriola@phoenix.gov.
