Neighborhood Matching Grant
This program provides financial support to neighborhood organizations in Ocoee, Florida, for community improvement projects that enhance local environments and foster civic engagement.
The City of Ocoee Neighborhood Matching Grant Program is a community development initiative designed to empower residents and neighborhood organizations to enhance their local environments. Administered by the City of Ocoee in Florida, the grant provides financial assistance to eligible neighborhoods to support improvement projects that benefit the community. The program is structured to foster civic engagement, encourage neighborhood collaboration, and improve the overall quality of life in Ocoee by supporting visible, positive changes in local areas. Eligible applicants include both Homeowner Associations (HOAs) and Non-HOA neighborhood groups located strictly within the city limits of Ocoee. Participation is limited to once every other year per group, ensuring equitable distribution of funds across the city. All applicants must demonstrate that the proposed project offers tangible community benefits. For HOAs, a formal vote of approval must be recorded in official minutes and submitted with the application. Non-HOA groups must provide a letter of agreement signed by all participating members, including their contact information. The grant operates as a 50% matching program with a maximum reimbursement cap of $2,000. Applicants are required to cover at least half of the total project cost. For instance, if a project costs $4,000, the City will reimburse $2,000; if it costs $2,000, the reimbursement will be $1,000. Funding is disbursed only after completion of the project, based on verified expenditures. All claims must be supported by proof of purchase documents or paid vendor invoices. Three quotes are required for each project, and while the lowest quote is not mandatory, justification must be provided for selecting a higher-priced option. Eligible project categories include: entry beautification and identification, open space and common area enhancements, and security or safety improvements. All projects must be completed within six months of approval and may not be used to supplement standard operating budgets. The grant explicitly prohibits funding ongoing operational or maintenance costs. In addition to the application, applicants must provide “Before” photographs of the proposed project site, and later submit “During” and “After” photos as part of the reimbursement package. The application process includes several mandatory steps. Applications must be submitted with original signatures and cannot be faxed. The deadline for submission is March 13, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. Completed forms must be mailed or delivered to the City of Ocoee – Grant Program at 1 North Bluford Avenue, Ocoee, FL 34761. After evaluation, applicants will be notified of the City Commission’s decision. Once approved, projects must be completed by August 21, 2026. Reimbursement requests, including final documentation and required photographs, are due by this deadline. The City encourages early communication with Community Relations at 407-905-3100, ext. 1530, especially for assistance in developing proposals. The grant program underscores the City’s commitment to fostering vibrant, safe, and aesthetically pleasing neighborhoods by supporting collaborative resident-driven improvements within its jurisdiction.
