Idyllwild Community Fund
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations that implement community-focused projects in Idyllwild and surrounding mountain areas, emphasizing the arts, education, public well-being, environmental protection, and safety for underserved populations.
The Idyllwild Community Fund (ICF) is a permanent charitable fund administered by the Inland Empire Community Foundation (IECF), a nonprofit public charity serving the Inland Empire region of Southern California. IECF supports individuals, families, and organizations in their philanthropic efforts, offering guidance, stewardship, and strategic fund distribution. As an affiliate, the ICF was established in 1996–1997 by anonymous donors as a legacy to benefit the Idyllwild community and nearby mountain areas. The fund's mission is "Strengthening Idyllwild through Shared Resources," and it operates under the broader IECF mission of promoting a generous, vibrant, and just region. Each year, ICF distributes a portion of interest accrued on its endowment to support local nonprofit initiatives through small, competitive grants. The fund focuses on community-based projects that nurture the arts, foster educational opportunities, promote public well-being, protect the environment, and enhance safety within Idyllwild. The majority of grants awarded typically range from $1,200 to $2,500, with a maximum request cap of $5,000. ICF emphasizes supporting programs that reach underserved populations and impact a wide array of community members rather than benefiting only a select few. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations operating programs that benefit the Idyllwild area or surrounding mountain communities. Applications must demonstrate financial integrity, include a clear project budget (with supporting documents), and show diversified funding sources. New, enhanced, or expanded programs are especially welcome. Administrative expenses may be included up to 10% of the request, and program-specific stipends are allowed if they align with IRS guidelines. However, requests for large capital projects, political or religious programming, or direct individual support are not eligible. Applications must be submitted online through the IECF portal. First-time applicants or those with staff changes must create a new user account. Before gaining access to the application, users must complete an “Eligibility Assessment.” Required uploads include the IRS determination letter, a detailed budget and narrative, a board member list, recent year-end financial statements, and equipment quotes if applicable. The application portal opens on March 1, 2026, and closes on April 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. All applications must be submitted online; mailed, faxed, or emailed copies will not be accepted. Applications will be screened by IECF staff for completeness and eligibility. The Idyllwild Advisory Committee, made up of local community volunteers, will evaluate submissions, conduct site visits as needed, and make funding recommendations. Final decisions rest with the IECF Board of Directors. All applicants will be notified of decisions during the week of July 27, 2026. Funded projects must operate during the designated grant period of August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. Applicants are encouraged to review the online application guide and evaluation report before submission. For assistance, questions can be directed to the official grant inbox at [email protected].
