Breva Thrive Grant Program
This funding initiative provides $5,000 to small businesses in the U.S. that are positively impacting their communities, especially those serving underrepresented populations.
The Breva Thrive Grant Program is a quarterly funding initiative operated by Cadence Financial Group under the Breva brand. It is designed to support early-stage and growth-oriented small businesses in the United States that deliver measurable, positive community impact. Breva positions this initiative within its broader mission of inclusive economic growth, explicitly welcoming applications from businesses that benefit historically underserved populations, while maintaining a race- and gender-neutral evaluation process. This program stands out for its emphasis on tangible, community-centered outcomes and its straightforward application process, making it accessible to a wide range of entrepreneurs across sectors. Each quarter, Breva awards a single grant of $5,000 to one business that demonstrates strong potential for community improvement and sustainable growth. The funds are expected to be used to advance the recipient’s business mission and expand their community-oriented impact. Allowable uses include investments in equipment, hiring, product development, or community outreach, while prohibited uses include personal expenses, political contributions, or debt unrelated to the business. Award disbursement occurs within 30 days of executing the Grant Agreement and successful verification, using ACH transfers. Eligibility for the Thrive Grant is focused but inclusive. Applicants must operate legally within the United States (including territories), have their principal place of business in the U.S., and must have generated commercial revenue before applying. Although at least 12 months of operating history is preferred, newer businesses with strong early traction may still apply. Breva places a strong emphasis on community benefit, asking applicants to clearly articulate the ways in which their business creates jobs, provides access to essential services, or otherwise supports local populations. Favorable consideration is given to applicants demonstrating measurable impact in high-need ZIP codes or LMI (Low-to-Moderate Income) census tracts. The grant follows a strict quarterly cycle, with application periods opening and closing at the beginning and end of each quarter. For Q1, applications open on January 1 and close on January 31; for Q2, April 1 to April 30; Q3 spans July 1 to July 31; and Q4 runs from October 1 to October 31. After the application window closes, reviews are completed by the end of the following month, notifications are issued by the 15th of the subsequent month, and grant programs begin by the end of that month. For example, Q1 applications are reviewed by February 28, with recipients notified by March 15, and funding beginning March 31. The review process is conducted holistically, focusing on four primary criteria: community impact, business viability, alignment with Breva’s inclusive economic growth mission, and the clarity and feasibility of the proposed fund use. The program does not factor in demographic data for individual scoring but may use anonymized aggregate demographic information for internal evaluations. Applicants are required to submit a complete application via Breva’s online portal by the posted deadlines and must certify the accuracy of their information. Post-award, recipients are expected to submit brief progress reports and retain records for up to three years. Breva also reserves the right to feature recipients in publicity materials and program communications. For further details or inquiries, applicants may contact Breva directly at [email protected] or call 1-919-283-3470. The official rules for the program are publicly available and applicants are encouraged to review them in full before submission. The grant opportunity is open to new applicants each quarter, allowing small businesses to plan for future application rounds if they miss the current one.
