AIDS United, in partnership with the U.S. People Living with HIV Caucus and the Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation at Harvard University, is offering funding through the AIDSWatch@Home initiative. This program supports community-based organizations and coalitions to host state-specific HIV advocacy events. AIDSWatch@Home events aim to train local advocates, foster policy engagement, and address systemic issues affecting people living with and vulnerable to HIV. The initiative is a response to the growing need for localized advocacy as federal support for HIV programs declines and state-level policies increasingly threaten LGBTQ+ rights and access to care.
This funding opportunity will provide grants of up to $15,000 to eight organizations or coalitions to plan and implement branded AIDSWatch@Home events between December 1, 2025, and November 30, 2026. These events should align with state legislative sessions when possible and address HIV disparities through an intersectional framework. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or those with a fiscal sponsor. Applicants must demonstrate financial stability, operate in a U.S. state or territory, and be in good standing with AIDS United if previously funded.
Applicants are expected to apply principles of meaningful involvement of people living with HIV/AIDS (MIPA) and to advance health equity by confronting racism, stigma, and systemic injustice. Grant funds must be used for programmatic expenses only and cannot be used for medications, clinical research, or lobbying activities. Grantees will be required to collect data on event impact, such as attendance, advocacy outcomes, and community engagement, and to participate in technical assistance activities, including monthly check-ins and post-event debriefing.
Applications are due by 6:00 p.m. ET on October 6, 2025. Awards will be announced by November 24, 2025. AIDS United will offer application support and technical assistance throughout the process. Interested applicants may direct content questions to Leslie McGorman and technical questions to the grants team at AIDS United. Past grantees include organizations in Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, California, and Louisiana.
