Grant Description

The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation Youth Grants program offers young people across the United States the opportunity to directly combat childhood hunger through youth-led service initiatives. Recognizing the alarming statistic that one in five children in the U.S.—more than 13 million—faces hunger, the program aims to empower youth as change agents. The foundation emphasizes that households with children are 1.5 times more likely to experience food insecurity, making the engagement of youth in solving this challenge both urgent and critical. Through these grants, the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation reaffirms its mission to end childhood hunger by supporting meaningful service during key youth engagement periods. The 2026 funding cycle invites applicants to submit proposals for $1,000 grants designed to mobilize at least 100 youth volunteers. These grants are specifically aligned with the annual Sodexo Servathon, taking place between April 1 and May 31, 2026, with a strong recommendation for project activities to align with Youth Service Month (April 10–May 10) and Global Youth Service Day (April 24–26). The foundation is seeking projects that are not only youth-led but also inclusive and community-based, encouraging the participation of youth who are typically marginalized or underserved, including but not limited to youth from low-income communities, youth of color, LGBTQ+ youth, and those in the foster care or juvenile justice systems. Eligible settings for projects include K-12 schools, higher education institutions, afterschool programs, youth-serving nonprofits, and faith-based organizations. Applicants must be U.S. residents, and funded activities must benefit U.S.-based children and families. Notably, the foundation values long-term impact and encourages applicants to integrate sustainability and systems-level approaches into their project designs. Community collaboration, especially including Sodexo employees and other local leaders, is also viewed favorably in the selection process. The application is now open and will close on January 25, 2026. All projects must be implemented during the stated activity window. While no pre-application steps such as letters of intent are required, youth should prepare to demonstrate how their proposed activities will meet the scale, inclusiveness, and sustainability expectations outlined in the guidance. Applicants are advised to consult the Frequently Asked Questions for additional clarity during the application process. Questions about the grant or application process may be directed to Scott Ganske, the program administrator, at [email protected]. The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation administers this initiative in collaboration with Youth Service America (YSA), known for promoting youth-led service and civic engagement. Notifications and awards are anticipated to align with the April-May activity schedule. This program recurs annually, with similar deadlines and implementation windows each year. As such, potential applicants who miss the current cycle are encouraged to prepare for the next round expected to open in Fall 2026.
