Grant Description

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is offering funding through its Reimagining Land Use & Zoning for Health Equity initiative, part of its Healthy Communities portfolio. The program aims to support projects that use land use and zoning as tools to foster equitable, healthy, and thriving communities while addressing historical and ongoing harm caused by discriminatory policies. The focus is on projects already in the demonstration, implementation, or evaluation phases rather than those in concept or startup stages. Eligible applicants must be organizations based in the United States or its territories. Preference may be given to nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charities and governmental entities. Projects should aim to create meaningful policy changes, potentially including new legislation or budget appropriations, and engage policymakers and the public. Applicants must demonstrate expertise in managing funds for advocacy efforts and familiarity with legal requirements regarding lobbying activities. Additional documentation may be required to confirm eligibility. Key dates include an optional applicant webinar on January 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. ET, where registration is required. Letters of intent must be submitted by February 6, 2025, at 3 p.m. ET. Selected applicants will be invited to submit full proposals by March 18, 2025, with a submission deadline of April 15, 2025, at 3 p.m. ET. Grants will commence on July 1, 2025, and last for 18 months. Up to 10 awards, each worth $250,000, will be granted. The program prioritizes projects that aim to reduce segregation, improve economic opportunity, increase community-driven land uses, and enhance health and wellbeing. These efforts should align with RWJF's Generational Goal of building equitable community conditions. Applications must be submitted online, and additional resources, including a sample proposal and FAQs, are available on the RWJF website. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend the informational webinar and review the full funding opportunity document to ensure a competitive submission.
