The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil invite alumni of U.S. government-funded or sponsored exchange programs to apply for the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) 2025. This initiative provides funding for alumni-led projects aimed at addressing global challenges within local communities, with a focus on promoting democracy and human rights, strengthening the U.S.-Brazil economic partnership, and supporting climate action and environmental protection. Proposals must incorporate principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA).
Grants range from $5,000 to $35,000, with all projects to be completed within 12 months. Eligible applicants must include at least two alumni team members, one of whom must be from Brazil. U.S. citizen alumni can participate but cannot lead proposals. Alumni may collaborate with nonprofit or non-governmental organizations to implement projects. All project activities must occur outside the U.S. and its territories.
The application process includes three stages. Initially, applicants must submit a simplified application form by January 10, 2025, 11:59 PM (Brasilia Time), either online or via email. Selected applicants will then provide additional details on project design, timelines, budgets, and evaluation plans in the second stage. Finalists may need to submit additional federal forms if selected for funding.
Proposals must address program objectives, include a robust communication strategy, and detail measurable outcomes. Budgets should include detailed line-item expenditures but cannot cover costs such as travel to/from the U.S., staff salaries, durable equipment, or partisan activities.
