Peabody Community Foundation Grant Program

The Peabody Community Foundation (PCF), an affiliate of the Central Kansas Community Foundation, was established in 2000 to address the diverse charitable needs of the Peabody, Kansas community. With 30 component funds currently under management and over $1.4 million in assets, PCF has played a vital role in supporting various local institutions and initiatives. Each year, the Foundation distributes over $50,000 in grants to organizations and programs that serve the Peabody area, reflecting its commitment to community well-being and development. Grants from the Peabody Community Foundation are awarded to charitable projects and programs that enrich community life. Recipients have included the Senior Center, Fall Festival, Christmas Lights, Township Library, Historical Society, the Peabody Food Bank, and Marion County FACT, among others. PCF also distributes scholarships from six dedicated scholarship funds. The Foundation has prioritized housing as a core focus area, supporting the Peabody Land Bank's work in acquiring and improving local properties through its expendable Community Improvement Fund. The Foundation emphasizes support for community infrastructure and cultural resources, including renovations to the Sunflower Theatre and Township Library, as well as maintenance for the city pool. These efforts demonstrate PCF’s commitment to enhancing the livability and vibrancy of Peabody through sustained financial and strategic support. Applicants must review the details of each competitive grant cycle, which are tailored to the geographic area served by PCF and CKCF affiliates. All applications must align with the Foundation’s guidelines and be submitted within the designated grant cycle windows. As of July 1, 2025, PCF has implemented an updated online Grant Award Agreement process, requiring a signed agreement from an authorized representative before any funds can be released. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, government entities, and religious organizations. Other individuals or groups must partner with a qualified fiscal agent to apply. Grants generally range from $500 to $5,000 and are limited to projects benefiting the Peabody area. The Foundation encourages transparency and recognition, asking grantees to use the PCF logo in public materials and submit grant impact reports.
