Beautification Grant
This grant provides funding to Louisiana municipalities and parishes for beautification projects that enhance public spaces through the planting of native plants and landscaping improvements.
The 2026–27 Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) Beautification Grant is a reimbursement-based funding opportunity designed to enhance the visual appeal of public spaces across Louisiana. Administered by Keep Louisiana Beautiful, a statewide nonprofit committed to environmental stewardship, this grant supports efforts to beautify and improve community entry points, highly trafficked roadways, and roundabout centers. KLB operates in partnership with the State of Louisiana and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, focusing on reducing litter, increasing community pride, and fostering shared responsibility for clean and attractive public spaces. Eligible applicants include Louisiana municipalities and parishes committed to completing impactful public beautification projects. The grant offers reimbursement awards ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, with a required minimum 15% match that may come in the form of cash contributions, in-kind donations, or the calculated value of volunteer hours. Funding is specifically directed toward the purchase of native trees, shrubs, perennial plants, welcome signs, and associated landscaping materials. To be considered, projects must be located on public property and must be completed no later than May 7, 2027. The application deadline for this cycle is June 21, 2026. The scope of funding includes direct landscaping materials such as soil, mulch, pavers, and edging, although these must not exceed 25% of the total grant request. Likewise, the cost of welcome signs and contractor services are each limited to 25% of the funding request. The program requires that at least 25% of all plantings be native to Louisiana and explicitly excludes annual plants. Each funded project must include a planting component if requesting funds for signage, as well as a design plan illustrating plant and material layout. Applicants must be in good standing with the Louisiana Secretary of State and be registered as State Certified Vendors. Additional compliance requirements include uploading a letter of authorization from the highest official of the applying organization, pre-approval of public space use, an irrigation and maintenance plan, and a detailed project design sketch. A Grant Agreement must be executed with the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism before any reimbursable work may begin. Attendance at a mandatory webinar hosted by KLB is also required before the agreement is issued. The application process demands strong community engagement and detailed project planning. Applicants must demonstrate volunteer involvement, stakeholder collaboration, and sustainable upkeep plans. Upon completion, grantees must submit a comprehensive Final Report that includes before-and-after photos, media coverage, acknowledgement letters to state legislators, and documentation of social media engagement. Two social media posts are mandated: one after the agreement is signed and one upon project completion. Both posts must tag Keep Louisiana Beautiful and the Lt. Governor’s Office and be included in the final report along with a press release. An additional requirement includes participation in KLB’s "Love the Boot Week" cleanup event, scheduled for April 17–25, 2027, with reporting required. All projects must be completed and final materials submitted by May 7, 2027, without exception. The program operates on a fixed grant cycle that ends on this date for all grantees, regardless of their project timeline. Failure to adhere to any grant requirements or deadlines may result in forfeiture of reimbursement and disqualification from future grant opportunities through KLB.
