Bronx Community Foundation Grant
This grant provides $10,000 to Bronx-based organizations for innovative projects that promote community cohesion or improve health equity and access to wellness resources.
The Bronx Community Foundation has opened its Fall Participatory Grantmaking Request for Proposals to fund organizations addressing systemic issues in The Bronx through solutions aligned with its Community or Health pillars. This initiative is rooted in The Bronx Community Foundation’s commitment to advancing racial equity, building community wealth, and dismantling systemic racism through a participatory model that shares decision-making power with diverse local stakeholders. The Participatory Grantmaking Committee (PGC), made up of community representatives with no conflicts of interest, evaluates applications and guides equitable funding decisions. This grant program supports nonprofit and grassroots organizations located in or serving The Bronx. Applicants may request up to $10,000 in funding, with eligible uses including program and training materials, workshops, staffing, overhead, and other costs necessary to execute their proposed projects. Under the Community pillar, funding supports initiatives in arts and culture, intergenerational and social services, civic engagement, and broader community cohesion. Under the Health pillar, eligible projects include increasing access to health and mental health services, promoting food sovereignty through community gardens and food pantries, improving environmental health and safety, and expanding nutrition and wellness education. Applications must be submitted through The Bronx Community Foundation’s online portal no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, November 22, 2024. Email or mailed applications are not accepted. Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the Foundation’s guiding principles, pillars, and participatory grantmaking process to ensure alignment. The Foundation also recommends submitting proposals well in advance of the deadline to avoid disqualification due to technical issues or incomplete applications. The application window opens on November 1, 2024, and closes on November 22, 2024. Final award announcements are expected in December 2024. All questions regarding the grant process must be submitted to grants@thebronx.org by November 20, 2024. Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered. Applications will be evaluated for eligibility and completeness on an objective, non-discriminatory basis. Organizations may only submit one application. This grant opportunity is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to collaborative community-led funding that emphasizes financial integrity, community knowledge, and sustainable impact.
