The William F. Thiel Grants, managed by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, continue the philanthropic legacy of William F. Thiel, dedicated to addressing the health needs of Wyoming County, New York. These competitive grants align with the fund’s 2024-2028 priorities, developed in collaboration with healthcare providers and experts. Applicants must focus on one of six key funding categories: Access and Navigation, Chronic Disease and Related Health Behaviors, Emergency Assistance for Low-Income Residents, Food Security, Mental Health/Behavioral Health, or Transportation. Higher priority will be given to proposals incorporating super priorities such as Capacity Building, Collaborative Impact, Equity/Health Equity, Leveraging Funding, and Resource/Referral Management.
Applications are submitted exclusively online through the Foundant Grant Lifecycle Manager. No paper or emailed applications are accepted. The application portal opens on November 15, 2024, and submissions are due by December 16, 2024, at 4:00 PM. Late applications will not be considered. Notifications of funding decisions will be sent by mid-February 2025.
Eligibility is restricted to organizations with current 501(c)(3) status as determined by the IRS, serving Wyoming County residents. Organizations may only have one open competitive grant with the Thiel Trust at any time. Applicants are advised to review the 2024-2028 Thiel Trust Funding Priorities document and the Wyoming County Health Trends and Impacts Report 2023 for detailed guidance.
