Grant Description

The Liberty Mutual Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Liberty Mutual Insurance, launched its Youth and Young Adult Workforce Development Initiative in 2022 to enhance economic security and resiliency among vulnerable communities. This current request for proposals (RFP) seeks applications for the 2025–2027 cycle to fund nonprofit programs that serve youth and young adults in economically challenged neighborhoods of Greater Boston. This grant aims to prepare disconnected youth and young adults, typically up to age 30, for post-secondary career success. Priority populations include youth experiencing homelessness, youth with disabilities, English language learners, those aging out of foster care, and other low-income groups. Programs must serve residents of the cities of Boston, Brockton, Cambridge, Chelsea, Quincy, Randolph, or Somerville. Grants are available only to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that have not received a Liberty Mutual Foundation grant in 2025, unless it was a Strategic Supplemental Grant. Applications must include a clear description of the proposed program, its goals, target populations, metrics for evaluation, and evidence of past impact. Metrics such as the number of youth obtaining living wage jobs or earning industry-recognized credentials are especially encouraged. Grant applications must include detailed demographic data, financial documents like a balance sheet and audit report, and responses to questions about program activities, outcomes, and sustainability. The funding cycle spans three years, with continued funding contingent on annual interim reports submitted in August 2026 and August 2027. Final reports are due June 30, 2028. Applications must be submitted through the CyberGrants online portal, where applicants must start a new application under the Liberty Mutual Youth & Young Adult Workforce Development Initiative. The application opens on June 2, 2025, and closes on July 14, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EST. A Microsoft Teams webinar for Q&A will be held on June 11, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. EST. Questions can be directed to Foundation@LibertyMutual.com. Final grant decisions will be announced in August or September 2025.
