Access and Opportunity Grant Program

The Access and Opportunity Grant Program is administered by the Saginaw Community Foundation to support initiatives that promote equity, inclusion, diversity, belonging, and justice within the community. This funding opportunity is made possible through a $20,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation, whose broader mission includes investing in people, the planet, and the economic prosperity of Michigan. The grant program is specifically intended for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations operating within the Saginaw region. Applications must address one or more of the key focus areas defined by the program: diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, or justice. Definitions are clearly outlined by the foundation to guide applicants in aligning their proposals. Projects should reflect the values of a welcoming, fair, and connected community that prioritizes empowerment and system-level fairness. The application window for this opportunity opens on August 15, 2025, and closes on October 31, 2025. Organizations interested in applying are encouraged to reach out to Brian Jackson, director of community partnerships and special initiatives, before submitting. This initial contact is required to discuss project details and obtain a necessary grant number for the application. The review process will take place by November 20, 2025, and successful applicants will be notified and awarded by December 1, 2025. At least four awards of up to $5,000 each are expected to be distributed. All funded projects must be completed by November 30, 2026. Awardees will be expected to follow any additional terms specified during the award process. The Saginaw Community Foundation encourages all qualified nonprofits to consider applying if their work supports the elimination of barriers and promotes authentic participation for all members of the community.
