The Allamakee County Community Foundation offers the “Emerging Needs” Mini Grant program to support timely and impactful projects within Allamakee County, Iowa. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, schools, and municipalities that serve Allamakee County residents. If an applicant is not a nonprofit, they must designate a 501(c)(3) organization as a fiscal sponsor and submit a completed sponsorship agreement. Projects must clearly outline how the funds will be used, the broader project cost, the number of people impacted, and how the initiative will benefit the community. Preference is given to proposals that are well-organized, directly beneficial, and feasible within a small budget.
The mini-grant provides awards of up to $1,000 per cycle. Funding is offered three times per year with application windows from April 15–30, July 15–31, and October 15–31. Grants are awarded specifically for the benefit of Allamakee County residents, and each proposal must clearly demonstrate this alignment.
To apply, organizations must email a Letter of Interest to the Foundation at accf@dbqfoundation.org by the relevant deadline. The subject line should begin with “ACCF Mini Grants,” followed by the name of the organization. The letter should include organizational contact information, funding request details, project scope, community impact, and prior experience with managing grant or donor funds. Before submitting, applicants must also call Betty Steege, Foundation Coordinator, at 563-586-2046 to confirm email receipt and ensure all required information is included.
