Grant Description

The Donor Alliance Foundation is a private foundation that supports the mission of organ and tissue donation and transplantation, primarily serving Colorado and Wyoming. Created to extend the work of Donor Alliance, the Foundation focuses on building partnerships and removing systemic barriers that prevent access to life-saving donation and transplant services. The Foundation's values center on equitable access, acknowledging the human gift of donation, and ensuring that all affected individuals and families receive support and resources. For the 2025–2026 grant cycle, the Foundation has allocated $225,000 in total funding—an increase of $25,000 from the previous year. Grants will support initiatives in three program areas: Education, Family Assistance, and Research (social and scientific). Applicants must propose projects that demonstrate inclusive practices and directly serve underinsured, rural, or socioeconomically disadvantaged populations in Colorado and Wyoming. The Foundation is especially interested in applications that break down access barriers, improve long-term transplant outcomes, and educate underserved communities through innovative approaches. Eligible applicants include nonprofit hospitals and their foundations, transplant centers, nonprofit community health organizations, academic institutions, governmental agencies (particularly rural public health departments), foundations, nonprofit medical associations, and regional chambers of commerce offering transplant-related programs. All applicants must either be a registered 501(c)(3), a government-supported institution, or have a formal fiscal sponsorship arrangement. For Family Assistance grants, a match—monetary or in-kind—may be required from the applying institution. Applications must be submitted via the Donor Alliance Foundation’s online portal, which opens at 9:00 a.m. MDT on June 2, 2025, and closes at 5:00 p.m. MDT on August 4, 2025. The application review will take place in August and September. Site visits, if requested, will occur in October. Final decisions will be made on November 18, 2025, and applicants will be notified that week. Awarded funds will be disbursed by December 31, 2025, with the grant term running from January 1 to December 31, 2026. For research grants, applicants may request a two-year funding period, but only one-year grants are available for education and family assistance. Applications are evaluated based on alignment with the Foundation’s mission, geographic impact, service to vulnerable populations, project sustainability, and the ability to demonstrate measurable outcomes. All research proposals must include a synopsis, name a lead investigator, and consult with the Director of Performance Excellence post-submission. Any resulting publications must credit the Foundation as a funding partner. Indirect costs may not exceed 10% of the total budget, including administrative and operational expenses. For inquiries, applicants may contact Executive Director Jennifer Moe via email at jmoe@donoralliancefoundation.org or by phone at 303-503-8795. The Foundation encourages potential applicants to thoroughly review the priorities and criteria before submitting their proposal and to be prepared to report mid-year and final outcomes if awarded.
