Grant Description

The PacificSource Foundation for Health Improvement, an independent private foundation established in 1992, focuses on improving access to quality healthcare, particularly for underserved and vulnerable populations. Operating across Idaho, Montana, and Oregon, the Foundation is committed to promoting health equity and building resilience within communities. Guided by a clear equity statement, the Foundation emphasizes inclusion, diversity, and collaborative community engagement to address healthcare disparities and drive sustainable health improvements. The Foundation's grant program is centered around two primary funding priorities. First, it supports access to healthcare services for vulnerable and underserved populations. This includes direct healthcare services as well as indirect supports that facilitate access, such as staffing and equipment enhancements. The second priority focuses on preventing health inequities through clinical and community-based interventions. These interventions aim to improve health outcomes for those experiencing disparities and may include services related to maternal and infant health, early childhood and parent education, supportive housing (programmatic only), nutrition education, and resilience-building. Grants typically range from $10,000 to $50,000 and are for a one-year duration. There is no strict maximum funding limit, and organizations may apply once per year. However, organizations must not have an active grant when applying. Eligible applicants are limited to 501(c)(3) organizations or those that otherwise meet IRS tax-exempt criteria. The Foundation does not fund proposals that are religious in nature or those focused on research, arts, political activity, or advocacy. Event sponsorships, capital campaigns, and brick-and-mortar projects are also ineligible. However, requests for program-related equipment and capacity expansion for programs and staffing are considered. The application process follows a two-step submission structure. First, applicants must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) through the Foundation’s online portal. Access to the application is invitation-only, and LOIs are reviewed on a rolling basis, typically within three to four months. If invited to proceed, applicants may then submit a full application during specific application windows aligned with one of three annual grant cycles—winter, spring, and summer. Notifications are issued roughly two months after each application window closes. Grant payments, once awarded, may take six to eight weeks, and applicants are required to submit a W-9 and an Electronic Funds Transfer form as part of the grant acceptance process. Each grant cycle has clearly defined timelines. For the 2026 Winter cycle, the LOI deadline is January 23, with applications accepted from February 9 to 20 and notifications sent in mid-April. The Spring cycle’s LOI deadline is April 24, followed by the application period from May 11 to 22 and mid-July notifications. The Summer cycle closes LOIs on July 24, with applications accepted August 10 to 21 and decisions announced in mid-October. Applicants and interested parties can contact Foundation Executive Director Marian Blankenship or Foundation Program Manager Amanda Adams for additional details. Their contact emails and phone numbers are provided directly in the announcement. The Foundation’s process is designed to ensure careful evaluation and alignment with its mission to foster equitable healthcare access across the three-state region it serves.
