Sexual Violence Prevention and Education

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), through the Bureau of Chronic Disease and Health Promotion (BCDHP), is offering grants under the Sexual Violence Prevention and Education program to address and prevent sexual violence across Arizona. This program focuses on shifting cultural norms, policies, and practices to create a violence-free climate by implementing community and population-based primary prevention strategies. The program's aim is to prevent violence before it occurs rather than focusing on service provision after victimization. The public health approach emphasizes promoting healthy behaviors and environments while reducing the likelihood of violence through systematic, evidence-based prevention efforts. Approximately $845,000 is available annually for the first year and each subsequent year of the four-year grant period ending January 31, 2029. ADHS anticipates awarding 4–7 grants annually, with award amounts ranging from $100,000 to $200,000 per award. Eligible applicants include local governments, Native American Tribes, nonprofit organizations, and state government entities. Applicants must propose strategies that align with the program's goal of addressing sexual violence prevention and promoting equity through population-based interventions. Grants are awarded for a one-year term, with renewal opportunities for the second, third, and fourth years, contingent on satisfactory performance. Applications must be submitted by March 13, 2025, and the program period for the first year will extend until January 31, 2026.
