The Community Leadership Fund, managed by the Felix E. Martin Jr. Foundation, offers financial support for leadership development experiences that benefit the community of Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. This grant is tailored for adults who reside and work in Muhlenberg County and who have demonstrated a clear dedication to enhancing life within the county. The fund enables these individuals or small groups to pursue personal or collaborative growth through educational opportunities that can be brought back and applied locally.
The grant supports two primary types of initiatives. First, it funds groups traveling to investigate solutions to challenges relevant to Muhlenberg County. These activities may include attendance at conferences or structured visits to other communities that are modeling effective, innovative approaches. Second, it assists individuals pursuing personal leadership growth that will translate into direct community impact in Muhlenberg County. However, the fund explicitly excludes standard professional development typically expected in the workplace.
Applicants may request funding to cover registration fees and associated expenses for the learning activity. All applicants must demonstrate the benefit of the proposed experience to Muhlenberg County and provide a total budget showing cost and any secured funds. Submissions must include a leadership opportunity summary, a description of the benefit to the county, a complete budget, two letters of recommendation from non-family members, and any additional documentation that supports the proposal.
The application process is rolling, but applicants must submit materials at least one month prior to the event for which they are requesting support. Applications may be submitted either by email to felixmartin@cflouisville.org or by mail to the Foundationโs office in Louisville. Questions about the program or application process can be directed to Meredith Zahirovic, Director of Grants, at 270-977-9194 or meredithz@cflouisville.org.
