Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations and educational institutions in Greensboro and Guilford County to support projects that promote cultural vibrancy, economic mobility, and health and wellness for local communities.
The 2025 Grants & Initiatives (G&I) Grant Program is administered by the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, a private philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting transformative projects that advance the vitality and equity of the Greensboro region. With a mission rooted in fostering inclusive community engagement, the Foundation’s G&I Grant Program prioritizes initiatives that strengthen cultural vibrancy, economic mobility, and health and wellness in local communities. The 2025 application cycle is open from June 1, 2025, through July 15, 2025. Under the cultural vibrancy focus area, the Foundation seeks proposals that enhance access to diverse cultural, educational, and natural resources. Programs that encourage inclusive dialogue and bring together multi-generational, multicultural audiences are particularly emphasized. Projects that build bridges across lines of difference to cultivate a more unified and engaged Greensboro community are well aligned with this funding priority. The economic mobility component supports efforts aimed at building strong economic foundations for residents. Eligible initiatives may address workforce development and education, support for small businesses and entrepreneurs, and improving access to workforce housing. The Foundation’s approach acknowledges the interconnectedness of these areas in enabling long-term, sustainable upward mobility for underserved populations. In the health and wellness category, the Foundation focuses on services that enable residents to age with dignity and access care supporting holistic well-being. Targeted funding is available for organizations providing direct health services to uninsured or underinsured individuals in Guilford, Randolph, and Rockingham Counties. Additionally, increasing access to fresh, healthy, and nourishing food within Guilford County is a key funding objective under this pillar. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in or serving Greensboro or Guilford County, with the exception of health-focused applicants serving neighboring Randolph and Rockingham Counties. Public schools and institutions of higher education are also eligible. However, public agencies such as government departments and housing authorities are not eligible to apply, though they may participate as partners in funded efforts. Organizations currently in year one of a two-year grant cycle or with outstanding grant reports are not eligible to apply. Individuals and sponsorships, including festivals, are also excluded from eligibility. Grant requests may be submitted for amounts up to $25,000. The Foundation does not indicate a specific number of awards or total available funding. Applications will be evaluated with attention to board and staff diversity, total operating budget, and alignment with the Foundation’s strategic goals. Emphasis will be placed on long-term strategies that advance equity and sustainability within the three funding pillars. While no matching requirement is indicated, applicants should ensure alignment with the Foundation’s mission and values before submission. All applications are due no later than July 15, 2025.
