Grant Description

The Community Outreach Grant offered by the City of Agoura Hills is part of the city’s initiative to strengthen and support local community-based organizations that directly serve residents through social services and cultural programs. For the 2026–2027 budget year, the city is continuing its long-standing effort to empower nonprofit organizations that work to improve quality of life in the local area. The program is managed through the City’s Finance Department, with support from the Finance Committee and final approval by the City Council. Funding availability is subject to the annual municipal budget process and may vary from year to year, including the potential for little or no disbursement depending on fiscal constraints. The primary objective of this grant program is to provide monetary assistance to community organizations that deliver essential or enriching services to the greater Agoura Hills area. Grants are intended to help offset costs associated with delivering social service or cultural programs that benefit residents. The grant is restricted to nonprofit organizations that provide services directly—meaning sub-awards to third parties are not permitted. Additionally, organizations must not be pervasively sectarian or intend to use funds for religious activities. While religiously affiliated organizations are not automatically excluded, the services funded must be secular in nature. To apply, organizations must complete an official application and submit it electronically to the city. Applications are only accepted by email to the designated contact, Michele Hubbs. All submissions are due by Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 4:00 PM Pacific Time. Early submissions are encouraged. In addition to the form, applicants must submit their IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter. New applicants must also include their bylaws or articles of incorporation. Financial documents are required, including the current year’s income statement, balance sheet, and documentation of administrative and program spending ratios. A description and breakdown of the organization’s funding sources must also be provided. The application will be reviewed during the city’s annual budget evaluation process. Eligible applications are initially evaluated by the Finance Committee. Organizations may indicate if they wish to speak on behalf of their application at the Finance Subcommittee Meeting during the week of May 18, 2026; however, participation is optional and does not affect award chances. Funding recommendations will be forwarded to the City Council and discussed during the City’s Budget Workshop in June 2026. Final award decisions rest solely with the Council. All applicants will be notified of their status in early July 2026. Funds, if awarded, must be used as proposed in the application. Awardees are required to submit a final expenditure report on their organization’s letterhead by 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2027. This report must explain in detail how funds were spent. Grant recipients are expected to maintain compliance with non-discriminatory policies and practices and to indemnify the city from liability associated with the grant. Importantly, while applications are being accepted, the City of Agoura Hills has indicated that the grant program is under review, and there is a possibility that little or no funding may be available for this cycle. Nonetheless, the city encourages eligible organizations to apply and take part in this community-support initiative.
