Community Safety Grant
This funding opportunity provides financial support to organizations in Seattle that deliver services aimed at reducing gun violence through intervention, school safety, and community support initiatives.
The City of Seattle Human Services Department (HSD), through its Safe and Thriving Communities (STC) Division, has released the 2025 Community Safety Request for Proposals (RFP) as part of its strategic investment in gun violence reduction. This funding initiative forms a central component of the One Seattle Restoration Framework, which aims to ensure safety and security across every neighborhood in Seattle. The RFP represents a coordinated, multi-faceted approach to addressing the root causes and impacts of gun violence, emphasizing a continuum of services that span prevention, intervention, and restoration. Under this RFP, HSD will select organizations that can deliver targeted services across three core areas: intervention services, school safety services, and supportive services. Intervention services will focus on individuals and locations most affected by gun violence through hospital-based programs, intensive individual support, and place-based strategies. School safety services aim to increase studentsโ sense of security, while supportive services will provide participants with case management and resource navigation. The program emphasizes a holistic model of community safety that integrates lived experience and expert knowledge. Up to $14,700,000 is available for this RFP. Initial contracts will run from April 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. While the City intends to renew agreements annually through the 2029 program year, ongoing funding is contingent upon provider performance and funding availability. This ensures long-term sustainability and accountability in service delivery. Organizations must meet HSD's standard agency eligibility requirements and those listed in the full guidelines to apply. The RFP follows a structured application process with an open and competitive format. Applications are due no later than 12:00pm (PDT) on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Submissions can be completed through the HSD Online Submission System or emailed to the designated HSD submissions address. Email attachments must not exceed 30MB. Applicants will receive an acknowledgment email upon submission. No faxed or mailed applications will be accepted. To support prospective applicants, HSD is hosting two information sessions: one in-person on September 30, 2025, and one virtual on October 2, 2025. The sessions will provide an overview of the funding opportunity and answer questions. In addition, Communities Rise has been contracted to offer free consultations to help eligible organizations strengthen their proposals. Interested organizations can submit an intake form or contact the consulting team via email. Priority for assistance is given to those who submit their form at least five business days before the deadline. For questions or to request accommodations, applicants should contact the Funding Process Coordinator, Janelle Jackson, at Janelle.Jackson@seattle.gov. Questions must be submitted by 5:00pm (PDT) on November 3, 2025. Final award notifications are expected by January 26, 2026, with new contracts commencing on April 1, 2026.
