ROSES 2024: F.8 Supplements for Open-Source Science

This program element under NASA’s ROSES-2024 Research Announcement supports supplements for open-source science projects. It aims to advance transparency, accessibility, and reproducibility of NASA science by promoting open-source research practices, tools, and data. Eligible projects are expected to enhance community involvement and usability of software or data products in alignment with NASA’s open science principles. The opportunity is part of NASA's broader annual omnibus announcement and is governed by the ROSES-2024 general solicitation rules. Awards may be issued as grants or cooperative agreements. There is no strict proposal deadline, though April 28, 2025 is the final date under the ROSES-2024 rules. Projects typically span up to three years. Proposers must be affiliated with an institution at nspires.nasaprs.com/ and, in general, NASA provides funding only to U.S. institutions. Organizations outside the U.S. that propose on the basis of a policy of no-exchange-of-funds; consult the NASA Proposer’s Guide (https://www.nasa.gov/general/grants-policy-and-compliance-team/ - section-2) for specific details. Some NRAs may be issued jointly with a non-U.S. organization, e.g., those concerning guest observing programs for jointly sponsored space science programs, that will contain additional special guidelines for non-U.S. participants.
