VyStar Foundation Military Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations that support active-duty service members, veterans, and their families by enhancing social services and community well-being in the VyStar Credit Union service areas.
VyStar Foundation, the philanthropic arm of VyStar Credit Union, operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the well-being of communities within the VyStar Credit Union service areas. The Foundation administers two primary grant cycles per year, focusing on three strategic giving pillars: Military, Youth, and Community Building. These grants support projects that advance social services for military communities, foster youth development through equitable learning opportunities, and promote community enrichment and financial wellness. The current grant cycle for the Military focus area is now open, inviting applications from eligible nonprofits working to improve the lives of active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. The Foundation seeks initiatives that provide essential social services, promote recognition of military service, and contribute measurable outcomes toward military community well-being. Priority will be given to proposals that demonstrate innovative problem-solving, strong program design, sustainability planning, and evidence of collaborative efforts to leverage resources effectively. Eligible organizations must be public charities with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Additionally, they must operate within or serve communities located in VyStar Credit Union’s service regions and be able to show a track record of at least one year of measurable program outcomes. All applicants must clearly articulate the community impact of their proposed work and demonstrate the capacity to track and report key performance indicators. Programs sponsored by religious organizations are considered only if they serve diverse and nonsectarian populations. Applications must be submitted online via the Foundation’s grant portal by the published deadline. The submission deadline for the Military grant cycle is April 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Two optional information sessions will be hosted via Zoom on March 11 and March 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. for prospective applicants. All applications must align with one of the Foundation’s strategic pillars to be considered for funding. Proposals will be reviewed by Foundation staff, with final funding decisions made by the Board of Directors. Selection criteria include strategic alignment, program innovation, community impact, sustainability, and financial stability. Organizations not selected for funding are encouraged to apply again in future cycles, as resubmission is permitted provided eligibility requirements are met. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in May 2026. Grant awards are intended as one-time, non-renewable grants and must not span multiple years. The Foundation values transparency, open communication, and collaboration, often seeking to build lasting relationships with its grantees beyond the grant term. Although grant size and the number of awards may vary depending on the quality of proposals received, this information is typically outlined in the Foundation’s Notification of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
