City of Cape Coral B2B Grant Program

The Breaking Barriers to Business (B2B) Grant Program is an initiative led by the City of Cape Coral Community Redevelopment Agency in Florida. Designed to promote non-residential development in the South Cape Community Reinvestment Area, the program offers financial assistance to encourage new construction, expansions, and renovations. The program serves as an economic development tool aimed at removing financial barriers for businesses and developers investing in projects aligned with the City's Land Development Code. The primary goal of the B2B program is to support job creation, attract and retain businesses, enhance local infrastructure, and stimulate the economy in Cape Coral. Projects supported by the grant are expected to contribute to economic activity, tax base growth, and community revitalization. The program prioritizes development that incorporates sustainable practices, infrastructure improvements, and plans for off-site parking, further aligning with the City’s vision for sustainable growth and enhanced public benefit. Funding for the FY 2023 cycle amounts to approximately $250,000. The program reimburses up to 20% of eligible capital costs for approved projects exceeding a minimum investment of $25,000, with a maximum award amount capped at $50,000. Funds are disbursed post-completion upon securing all necessary permits and a certificate of occupancy. Eligible expenditures include costs related to on-site infrastructure, landscaping, utility connections, drainage systems, and fees assessed by the City. Eligibility is limited to business owners and developers undertaking non-residential projects within the designated South Cape area. Projects must meet a minimum capital investment threshold and have an active permit application with the City’s Development Services Department. Residential-only projects are not eligible. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted, and expenditures incurred within 24 months before submission may count toward the investment minimum. Proposals are evaluated using a 100-point system based on criteria such as project viability, compliance, economic impact, sustainability, and public benefit. Projects scoring at least 60 points are referred to the CRA Board for final consideration.
