Human Service and Outside Agency Fund

The Human Service and Outside Agency (HSOA) Fund is an annual grant program operated by the Town of South Kingstown, Rhode Island. The fund is structured to allocate financial support to local nonprofit organizations that serve the residents of South Kingstown through a range of human service initiatives and community-enhancing activities. For fiscal year 2025–2026, a total allocation of approximately $180,000 was identified, with the final amount still subject to budget confirmation. Interested organizations must complete a standardized, fillable application template that requests key information about proposed initiatives and general organizational background. Once applications are submitted, they are reviewed for completeness and then forwarded to the Town Council. A public budget workshop is held in early March where applicants may present their proposals and respond to questions from the Council. Funding recommendations are made by the Town Council as part of the broader municipal budget process. Agencies awarded funding are notified after the start of the fiscal year on July 1. Following notification, recipients are contacted by the HSOA program coordinator, who provides instructions for completing the Funds Distribution Request Form. Once the form is submitted, funds are typically disbursed within two weeks. Additional requirements or distribution conditions are communicated directly by the coordinator at that time. The HSOA grant is recurring annually, with application availability and deadlines generally consistent year over year. The next anticipated funding cycle will likely begin in January 2026.
