City of Avondale Youth Opioid Prevention Services Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations that deliver prevention and education services to help local youth avoid opioid and drug misuse in Avondale.
The City of Avondale's Youth Opioid Prevention Program aims to address and reduce opioid and drug misuse among local youth through direct support of nonprofit-led initiatives. Administered by the Cityโs Public Information Office, the program provides grants to organizations that deliver prevention, education, and mentoring services targeted at minimizing the negative impacts of opioid and other drug use. This funding initiative supports the city's broader mission of fostering healthier, safer communities by empowering local nonprofits to combat substance misuse through evidence-based and community-focused programming. Eligible applicants must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that serve youth residing in Avondale, Arizona. The services offered must directly mitigate the personal, social, health, and economic harms associated with opioid and drug availability and misuse. Successful applicants will have a proven record of implementing similar programs within the last two years and must demonstrate expertise in substance abuse prevention, as well as organizational capacity and relevant experience or certifications. To qualify, applicants must also show the ability to secure funding from other sources and commit to submitting quarterly progress reports, including a final end-of-year report. Award recipients will receive the grant in two installments: the first 50% in the initial quarter and the remaining 50% in the third quarter, contingent on satisfactory progress demonstrated through mid-year reporting. Grant awards are capped at a maximum of $50,000. The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024. Applications must be submitted electronically via the provided Cognito Forms link.
