Individual Artist Grant Program

The Cannon Beach Arts Association offers an Individual Artist Grant of up to $2,000 for artists residing in Clatsop or Tillamook counties. This grant supports the creation of original work across various disciplines, including visual arts, writing, performance, and music. The purpose is to help artists develop their creative projects while fostering community engagement through public presentations or educational activities. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate a serious commitment to producing new or in-progress work. The project should be completed and shared with the community within 12 months of receiving the grant. Recipients are expected to contribute back to the community through exhibits, performances, publications, or other forms of public involvement as described in their proposals. The application process requires submitting a detailed proposal along with samples of previous work relevant to the applicant’s art form. A committee reviews submissions based on project quality, originality, feasibility within the timeframe, community benefit, and professional management history. Successful applicants will enter into a contract with the association. Grant funds are distributed in two installments: half upon award notification and half after a mid-term progress review. This structure ensures ongoing support throughout the project duration while maintaining accountability for timely completion and public presentation. Applications must be submitted by October 1, 2024. Decisions will be made within 30 days following submission, with notifications sent by mail within 45 days. If no proposals meet the criteria, funds may not be awarded that cycle. This grant provides an opportunity for local artists to advance their creative work with financial assistance while engaging their communities through meaningful artistic contributions.
