Grant Description

The Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) grant is offered through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under funding opportunity number SM-25-012. This cooperative agreement is authorized by Section 520C of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 290bb-34), as amended. The program aims to serve as a national center of excellence focused on building nationwide capacity for suicide prevention by delivering training, technical assistance, and resources. It supports states, territories, tribes, higher education institutions, nonprofits, communities, and providers in implementing evidence-based and culturally competent suicide prevention strategies. Eligible applicants include domestic public and private nonprofit entities, such as state and territorial governments (including Washington D.C. and U.S. territories), political subdivisions of states, tribal governments and organizations, health facilities under Indian Health Service contracts, and other nonprofit organizations. If the applicant is a nonprofit, documentation of nonprofit status is required. No cost sharing or matching is required for this grant. Applications are due by July 22, 2025, with an expected award date of September 29, 2025, and a project start date of September 30, 2025. The total available funding for this program is $10,207,289 per year, with a single award expected. The project period may last up to five years. The award ceiling is $10,207,289 per year, and continuation is contingent upon progress, compliance, and fund availability. All applicants must submit their applications electronically through Grants.gov or eRA ASSIST and comply with federal executive orders and HHS administrative requirements. Applicants are required to perform a comprehensive list of activities, including establishing a Technical Expert Panel, conducting a needs assessment, developing a best practices registry, creating outreach and marketing plans, supporting public-private partnerships, and offering training and resources related to suicide prevention. Additionally, the program includes specific deliverables such as developing a website, responding to technical assistance requests, and implementing educational programs that include CEUs and CMEs. Optional activities include promoting the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and translating new research into practice. Applications must include a project abstract, a 12-page project narrative responding to review criteria, a detailed budget narrative, and required attachments including letters of commitment, timelines, biosketches, data collection tools, and nonprofit documentation. Applications will be reviewed for eligibility, completeness, and responsiveness, and evaluated on intended audience, implementation approach, staffing, and data collection plans. SAMHSA requires ongoing performance reporting and evaluation through its SPARS system and annual Programmatic Progress Reports (PPRs). For inquiries, applicants may contact Brandon J.
