Grant Description

The California Community Foundation, in partnership with Pasadena Community Foundation and UniHealth Foundation, is offering the Wildfire Recovery Fund: Community Healing & Restoration Request for Proposals. This initiative aims to support nonprofit organizations, grassroots groups, healing practitioners, and community-led initiatives or coalitions in their efforts to foster community healing and restoration following the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. The program seeks proposals for projects that deliver community and peer-based, culturally affirming services. The goal is to strengthen connections, promote collective well-being, and address the emotional, spiritual, and social needs of individuals and communities impacted by the wildfires. The funding is intended to support efforts that build and deepen social connections and collective resilience through shared, joyful, and culturally meaningful activities. Projects should focus on wildfire recovery in Los Angeles County, directly responding to the needs of affected communities. A key criterion is the centering of marginalized communities, with a particular focus on people of color, seniors, youth, immigrants, and individuals with disabilities who have been disproportionately affected. The initiatives should also promote long-term recovery by advancing programs that foster community health and collective resilience. Eligible activities include community gatherings, storytelling groups, neighborhood potlucks, community restoration projects, cultural and artistic events, remembrance ceremonies, creative arts classes, wellness workshops (such as art therapy, music therapy, mindfulness, and trauma recovery), family support programs, outdoor and adaptive recreational activities, and community education workshops. The fund also provides additional staff well-being funding to support organizations in combating burnout and implementing wellness practices for their staff and volunteers. Grant awards typically range between $25,000 and $200,000 for two-year projects, from December 2025 to December 2027. The final award amounts will be determined based on the proposed budget, the applicant's organization budget, and the availability of funds. Grantees will be required to submit reports at the end of year one and year two.
