Grant Description

The Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) is accepting Letters of Interest (LOI) for its FY 2025 Nonprofit Grant Program, designed to support Connecticut-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits through competitive grants. The program funds capital projects and purchases, as well as programs that align with focus areas including child care, cultural institutions, education, healthcare, human services, and senior living facilities. Basic human needs, such as food pantries or housing, are not funded, nor are fundraising campaigns, scholarships, or religious services. Grant awards range from $5,000 to $75,000, and projects must occur within Connecticut, with capital purchases remaining in the state for five years. Eligible organizations must not have received CHEFA grants for three consecutive prior fiscal years and must not currently be CHEFA clients. Applications must demonstrate clear project need, population impact, innovation, financial stability, and alignment with diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. Funds are distributed following the execution of a Financial Assistance Agreement and must be used within the period ending June 30, 2026. The timeline begins with the LOI submission due by December 19, 2024, at 4:00 PM. Selected applicants will be notified by February 7, 2025, and invited to submit full applications by March 20, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Award announcements will be made by May 30, 2025, and funds disbursed by June 30, 2025. Submissions must be completed via CHEFA's online grant management system, accessible through Foundant Technologies. No additional materials like cover letters or letters of support are allowed, and all communications must comply with Connecticut's Freedom of Information Act. Contact Dan Kurowski at dkurowski@chefa.com or 860-761-8432 for further details.
