Sidewalks and Trails
This funding opportunity provides financial support to Kansas cities and counties for the construction of sidewalks and trails that benefit low- and moderate-income residents.
The Kansas CDBG program is accepting applications for the Sidewalks & Trails category. All proposed activities must meet the national objective of benefiting low- and moderate-income (LMI) persons. Eligible applicants are incorporated cities or counties in Kansas not receiving annual CDBG entitlement from HUD. The maximum grant is $1,000,000 with a 25% funding match. The application deadline is September 30, 2024. Eligible activities include construction of new sidewalks and trails, installation of benches and resting areas, and covering engineering/architectural costs and administration. The funding ceiling is calculated based on population: $800,000 for populations >5,000, and $650,000 for populations <5,000.

Eligible applicants are incorporated cities or counties in Kansas that do not receive annual CDBG entitlement allocation from HUD. Cities receiving entitlements and therefore ineligible include Kansas City, Lawrence, Leavenworth, Manhattan, Overland Park, Topeka, Wichita, and all of Johnson County.
