The United for Good Nonprofit Resiliency Grant, offered by United Way of Central Maryland, is a targeted funding initiative designed to support nonprofit organizations that provide essential basic-needs services across Central Maryland. United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM) brings a century of experience in supporting the health, housing, economic advancement, and education of individuals and families in the region. Its mission is to mobilize community resources and empower local leadership to promote equity and opportunity, especially for residents facing economic hardship.
This grant opportunity is open to 501(c)(3) nonprofits—or organizations applying under a fiscal sponsor with such designation—with an annual operating budget under $5 million. Applicants must be in good standing with the State of Maryland and must serve one or more of six counties within Central Maryland: Baltimore City, and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, or Howard Counties. Proposals must align with one of three funding priorities: (1) supporting organizations facing immediate financial gaps due to funding cuts or delays; (2) expanding or accelerating assistance in response to rising community needs; or (3) enhancing organizational resiliency through collaboration, consolidation, or mergers.
Awards range from $2,500 to $25,000 and may be used for a variety of operating or programmatic costs, including but not limited to salaries, equipment, training, and administration (with a 10% cap). However, funding will not be provided for lobbying, religious activities, or compensation to individuals under 14 years of age. Organizations receiving current funding from United Way are also eligible to apply.
Applicants must submit their proposals online by Monday, December 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. EST. Only one application per organization is allowed. Required attachments include the 501(c)(3) determination letter, Maryland Certificate of Good Standing, financial documentation from the last two fiscal years, a current operating budget, an organizational chart, and a list of board members. Depending on the applicant’s revenue from charitable contributions, a financial audit, review, or internal statement may be required.
An optional but strongly encouraged information session will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Award decisions will be announced in mid-January 2026. The grant performance period will run from February 1, 2026, through January 31, 2027. Questions about technical access to the portal should be directed to the United Way grant team via email. This grant does not recur annually and is intended for urgent and strategic resilience support within the funding period.
Submit complete applications with proper financial documentation; only one application allowed per organization; proposals must clearly align with funding priorities.
